Empowerment fair: Serve like a jedi

"Truly wonderful the mind of a child is," as the wise, Jedi Knight, Yoda would say. Together we have the power to teach and help foster generosity in our children. Empowering our youth to make a positive impact is one of the most important obligations of each generation. Our class's empowerment fair gives each student the responsibility to do just that.

Each student receives a packet that includes a parent letter, a sample rubric, and tri-fold expectations. 

Sample organizations

We will spend a day reviewing sample charities from a variety of lists. The students will also have the opportunity to share organizations that they are familiar with.

Charity research

Each student will first research 3 charities that they are interested in. They will be responsible for recording what each charity does, who they help, and how to contact them.

This presentation was used to show our students how fun and rewarding it can be to serve others. I love sharing my own experiences with the students!
NOTE: I added additional slides to this PowerPoint.  Reason? I needed to introduce the students to Misha Collins, Castiel from Supernatural.  Mr. Collins agreed to Skype with our students about his work with RandomActs.org.
